These layouts are the result of the class’s choice out of all my thumbnails- it seems people most responded to my attempts at architecture, and the inclusion of foliage in the composition seemed to help. Speaking of composition, that may also have been a deciding factor in this choice of layout- I didn’t realize at the time of drawing, but it was pointed out to me that the diagonals of the river and the cloud-shapes, as well as the diminishing size of the trees going right to left in the foreground, seemed to form a nice triangle shape that leads the eye from the vanishing point on the left outward along the river and back to the vanishing point after traveling up the tree and left along the treetops and roof. I think I’ll place my character (characters?) along the middle of that diagonal so they stay featured, regardless of how small they end up being on the final canvas. I’ll also base which character (fox, or kid in a ghost costume?) I use depending on how the class reacts.
